About this recipe: A fun little starter that is easy to make, so you can let the kids help with your Halloween buffet. They cannot be made far in advance, however - the biscuits will become too soft.

Makes: 12 appetisers

  • 2 small tins crabmeat
  • 150g cream cheese, softened
  • salt and ground black pepper
  • 12 round savoury biscuits or crackers
  • a few black olives, sliced into rounds (for the eyes)
  • 1 small carrot, cut into traingles (for the beaks)
  • a few cornichons, cut into triangles (for the ears)

Prep:15min  ›  Ready in:15min

  1. Stir together the crabmeat and the cream cheese in a small bowl. Season generously with salt and pepper. Place the mixture in a small recloseable plastic bag. Cut one corner of the bag off, and pipe the mixture onto the biscuits or crackers.
  2. Place two olive slices on each biscuit to make the owl's eyes, then decorate with a triangle of carrot for the beak, and 2 triangles of cornichon for ears.
