About this recipe: Financiers are small French teacakes made from egg whites and ground almonds. These are embellished with everyone's favourite chocolate-hazelnut spread. They are delicious, perfect light treats for afternoon tea. There's a theory that these cakes are named 'financiers' because they became popular in the financial district of Paris, and the moulds they're usually baked in are the shape of gold bricks!
If you don't have a financier mould, you can use mini tart tins or cupcake cases. Watch baking time as it may vary depending on the size of mould used. Financier moulds are available online and in some speciality shops.
