Chicken gizzards with mushrooms

A very tasty way of preparing chicken gizzards - they are first pan fried and then stewed with mushrooms in creamy sauce.

Serves: 4
- 800g chicken gizzards
- 4 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 2 onions, minced
- 250g button mushrooms, chopped
- salt and pepper
- 2 bay leaves
- 4 tablespoons soured cream

- Wash gizzards and cut into small chunks.
- Heat half of the oil in a frying pan and brown gizzards. Transfer to a pot.
- Heat remaining oil in the pan and fry mushrooms and onions till they start to soften.
- Add onion and mushrooms on top of gizzards. Add stock or water to just cover. Add salt, pepper and bay leaf.
- Cover and simmer on low heat for about 1 hour. Check the level of liquid from time to time and add water as needed.
- In the last 10 to 15 minutes, add sourced cream.
