Flaky cinnamon spirals

    These flaky cinnamon spirals are easy to make, use only basic ingredients and are perfect as a light after dinner nibble.

    Serves: 5 

    • 1 (250g) sheet frozen puff pastry
    • 100g caster sugar
    • 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
    • 1 egg

    1. Preheat oven to 200 C / Gas 6. Line a baking tray with baking parchment.
    2. Defrost the pastry for about 30 minutes at room temperature.
    3. Combine the sugar and cinnamon together in a bowl. Beat the egg lightly and brush the pastry thoroughly.
    4. Sprinkle one side of the pastry with half the sugar and cinnamon mixture, roll lightly with a rolling pin. Turn over, and sprinkle other side with the remaining sugar mixture and roll again.
    5. Cut the pastry lengthways into 3 sections, and cut across into strips 2.5cm long. Grab the ends and twist into a spiral. Arrange on the prepared baking tray.
    6. Bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes until golden brown. Remove from the oven and allow to cool on a cooling rack before serving.
