Cauliflower and ham gratin


    Add ham to a cauliflower gratin to make a quick and easy complete meal, great for a midweek supper.

    Serves: 10 

    • 3 heads cauliflower, cut into florets
    • 80g butter
    • 60g plain flour
    • 1L milk
    • 150g ham, diced
    • 70g Gruyère or Comté cheese, grated

    1. Preheat the oven to 180 C / Gas 4. Butter a large baking dish.
    2. Cook the cauliflower in a pan of boiling water until tender, about 15 minutes.
    3. Melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Whisk in the flour, then pour in the milk and continue to cook, whisking constantly, until the sauce is smooth and thick.
    4. Arrange the cauliflower in the baking dish. Scatter the ham pieces over the cauliflower. Pour the sauce over the cauliflower and sprinkle evenly with the grated cheese.
    5. Bake in the preheated oven until golden and bubbly, about 10 minutes.
