Cherry biscuits

    Thin crispy biscuits with a sweet cherry in the middle.

    Makes: 16 biscuits

    • 100g (4 oz) margarine
    • 50g (2 oz) caster sugar
    • 2 drops vanilla extract
    • 100g (4 oz) plain flour
    • 8 glace cherries, halved

    Prep:5min  ›  Cook:10min  ›  Ready in:15min 

    1. Cream the margarine and sugar until light and fluffy. Stir in the flour and vanilla.
    2. Roll mixture into approximately 16 little balls and flatten slightly.
    3. Press half a cherry into the centre of each biscuit, and place on a greased baking tray.
    4. Bake for 10 to 15 minutes at 190 C / Gas 5.
    5. Cool on a wire cooling rack.

    Loved them. Very quick and simple to make. For a change in flavour I swapped vanilla extract for Orange flavouring. Both worked just as well.  -  04 Nov 2017


    Really really nice... although I messed up and cooked them too high - still came out lovely!!! Will try again (and not mess up) 5 Nov 7 Nov - tried again - very very nice when done right :D  -  05 Nov 2015


    Used different ingredients. Try adding about 50grams of slivered almonds to the mix as an optional extra. A very nice biscuit either way though.  -  07 Apr 2010  (Review from Allrecipes AU | NZ)
