4 large stalks Swiss chard or kale
oil for cooking
1 teaspoon cumin seeds
2 green peppers
2 cloves garlic, chopped
2 pinches asafoetida powder
1 tablespoon curry powder
1 teaspoon turmeric
salt to taste
1 tablespoon lemon juice

Cut the chard (or kale) into pieces and separate the stalks and leafy green parts.
Heat a generous drizzle of oil in a large frying pan. When hot add cumin seeds, peppers, garlic and asafoetida. Add white parts of chard, curry powder and turmeric; stir, then add a bit of water. Cover and cook for 5 to 6 minutes on high heat.
Add chard leaves and stir. Season with salt to taste, cover and cook for 10 minutes over medium heat. Finally, stir in lemon juice and remove from heat. Serve hot.
