Prawns in whisky cream sauce

Creamy prawns with a hint of whisky, a simple and sophisticated starter. I have turned many times to my husband's store of whisky for cooking without any grumbling once he's tasted the sauce!

    6 people made this

    Serves: 4

    • 2 garlic cloves, chopped
    • 20g salted butter
    • 500g large prawns
    • salt and freshly ground black pepper
    • 100ml whisky
    • 200ml whipping cream

    Prep:10min  ›  Cook:15min  ›  Ready in:25min

    1. Cook and stir the garlic in the butter in a frying pan over medium heat for about 5 minutes. Stir in the prawns and cook, stirring occasionally, for about 5 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.
    2. Pour in the whisky and set it alight with a match. Let the whisky flame until the alcohol is evaporated.
    3. Stir in the cream, and cook until the mixture is hot and the prawns are opaque, about 3 minutes.
