About this recipe: Chard is not only tasty, it also is very healthy (it contains vitamins A, E, K and a lot of minerals). This is an easy and quick recipe for chard with tomatoes.


Serves: 2 

  • 400g chard
  • 2 tomatoes
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1/2 onion, finely chopped
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • salt and pepper, to taste

  1. Rinse the chard and pat dry. Separate the stalks from the leaves and cut into strips. Keep stalks and leaves separate.
  2. Bring a saucepan of water to the boil and cook tomatoes for 1 minute. Take them out of the water and cut crosswise into the skin with a sharp knife. Peel off the skin and chop the pulp.
  3. In a frying pan heat olive oil and cook and stir the onion and garlic. Add tomatoes, mash with a fork and simmer for 2 minutes. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  4. In the same water that you cooked the tomatoes in, add chard stalks, cover and cook for 8 minutes. Add leaves and simmer for another 5 minutes. Drain.
  5. Combine all of the ingredients together and serve warm.
