This is a cheap and simple recipe for a hearty casserole with Brussels sprouts and sausage. It definitely keeps you warm and nourished on those cold and dark winter days.
In a pot of salted water boil Brussels sprouts until firm to the bite.
Preheat oven to 200 C / Gas 6.
In a frying pan heat oil and fry onion rings sprinkled with paprika until golden brown. Add sausage and fry till brown.
In a bowl stir together soured cream, milk, chives, salt and pepper. Add potatoes, drained Brussels sprouts, onions and sausage and mix well.
Transfer mixture to a buttered gratin dish and sprinkle with cheese. Bake for 35 to 40 minutes. During the last 10 minutes cover with aluminium for to prevent it from getting too brown.
