About this recipe: A classic spaghetti alla puttanesca. A neighbour's husband used to travel a lot. When he returned from his trips, she had to cook these spicy and tasty spaghetti for him! A combination of flavours that will warm you up. Watch out for salt because all of the ingredients are already very salty.


Serves: 4 

  • 500g spaghetti
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 clove of garlic, halved
  • 1 punnet cherry tomatoes, halved
  • 1 glassful pitted Kalamata olives
  • 10 anchovies
  • 1 tablespoon capers
  • 1 teaspoon dried red chilli flakes
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
  • sprigs of fresh parsley (to garnish)

  1. Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to the boil. Add the spaghetti and cook for 8 minutes.
  2. Heat oil in a frying pan, add the garlic. Cook for 1 minute, then add the tomatoes. Add the olives, anchovies and capers. Continue to cook and stir occasionally, till thickened.
  3. When spaghetti is ready, drain and toss with the sauce. Sprinkle with chilli flakes and chopped parsley.
  4. Garnish each plate with the sprigs of parsley. Serve.
