About this recipe: Nothing like a cold winter afternoon, sipping a cup of tea, dipping these terrific butter biscuits... one after the other! No one can resist them!


Makes: 4 dozen biscuits

  • 500g plain flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 120g butter, softened
  • 230g sugar
  • 1 egg, separated
  • 1 drop vanilla extract
  • 120ml milk

  1. Combine the flour, baking powder and salt.
  2. In a separate bowl, mix the sugar with the butter. Add the yolk and the vanilla and keep stirring.
  3. Add the milk slowly. Now add the flour mixture.
  4. In a third bowl, beat the egg white, then add it to the mixture.
  5. Make small balls out of the mixture and place them on a baking tray greased with butter.
  6. Bake them in a pre-heated oven at 180 C / Gas 4 for 15 minutes. Let the biscuits cool before serving. Store in an airtight tin or freeze for up to 3 months.
