Melt a knob of butter in a saucepan. Add a handful of the bread cubes; spread them out in the pan and let them absorb as much butter as possible. Continue to saute the bread, stirring so they brown evenly.
Remove croutons when they are a golden brown colour. Repeat with remaining bread cubes, adding more butter each time the pan gets dry.
