Buttered croutons

    These buttered croutons make a wonderful crunchy topping for all kinds of soups or salads. Kids are especially fond of them!

    Serves: 4 

    • Butter as needed, about 3 or 4 tablespoons
    • 5-6 slices ciabatta bread, sliced into even sized cubes

    1. Melt a knob of butter in a saucepan. Add a handful of the bread cubes; spread them out in the pan and let them absorb as much butter as possible. Continue to saute the bread, stirring so they brown evenly.
    2. Remove croutons when they are a golden brown colour. Repeat with remaining bread cubes, adding more butter each time the pan gets dry.
