Sausage rolls

    A tasty recipe for sausage rolls with cheese and chipolata sausages. This finger food doesn't stay long on a party buffet.

    Serves: 16 

    • 50g (2 oz) soft margarine
    • 100g (4 oz) Cheddar cheese, finely grated
    • 1 teaspoon mustard
    • 1 pinch salt
    • 8 slices thin white bread, crusts removed, and rolled out
    • 8 chipolata sausages

    Prep:15min  ›  Cook:25min  ›  Ready in:40min 

    1. Preheat oven to 200 C / Gas 6.
    2. Mix margarine, cheese, mustard and salt in a bowl.
    3. Spread mixture onto bread, and roll up sausages in bread.
    4. Place on greased baking tray and bake in oven for 25-30 minutes.
    5. Cut each roll into halves. Serve hot or cold.

    With a few tweaks here and there, this recipe was really good! I used all butter puff pastry instead of bread and used shopbrought sausage meat instead of cutting open the sauages. All together they turned out really well, will be making them again  -  14 Jul 2013


    Loved how crispy the bread turned out. It's about 28 degrees C so not a day for making pastry as I would normally. I'll make them again but thinking I'd halve the spread recipe. It's rather strong. But fab place to start. Thank you.  -  17 Jun 2017
