Slow cooked roast beef in the oven

    This simple slow cooked roast beef has few ingredients and a simple method. Just rub a good quality joint of beef with salt and paprika and pop in the oven for several hours at a low heat.

    Serves: 8 

    • 1.5kg slow roasting beef joint with fat
    • salt, to taste
    • paprika powder, to taste
    • 3 tablespoons butter or oil

    1. Preheat oven to 100 C / Gas ½.
    2. Generously rub roastbeef with salt and paprika. Heat butter or oil in a large skillet and brown roast beef from all sides.
    3. Place the roast in a shallow baking pan with a wire rack on the bottom, with the fat layer facing up.
    4. Roast till the internal temperature is 65 C. Cooking time is about 1 hour per pound, check your meat with a thermometer after 2 hours.
