About this recipe: Breaded pork chops are roasted in the oven with cider and chutney. A great flavour combination with hints of sweet, savoury and tart.

Serves: 4 

  • 85g (3 oz) breadcrumbs
  • 1 teaspoon ground sage
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 pork chops
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • fat for frying
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon curry powder
  • 300ml (1/2 pt) dry cider
  • 2 tablespoons sweet chutney

  1. Preheat oven to 190 C / Gas 5.
  2. Mix breadcrumbs with sage, salt and pepper. Dip pork chops in beaten egg then coat with crumb mixture.
  3. Place in buttered baking dish.
  4. Fry onion in fat, add curry powder, cider and chutney and pour over chops.
  5. Bake for 1 hour until meat is cooked through.
