    Makes: 6 scones

    • 60g cold butter, cubed
    • 225g plain flour
    • pinch of salt
    • 60g sultanas
    • 1 dessertspoon caster sugar
    • 1 teaspoon baking powder
    • 120ml milk

    1. Preheat the oven to 220 C / Gas 7. Line a baking tray with baking paper.
    2. Rub butter into the flour and salt until it resembles breadcrumbs. Add sultanas, sugar and baking powder; mix well. Stir in the milk to form a soft but not sticky dough.
    3. Turn on to a floured board and shape into a round; stamp out scones with a cutter and place on prepared baking tray. Brush the top of the scones with milk.
    4. Bake in the preheated oven until golden, about 20 minutes.
