About this recipe: This delicious chocolate pudding pairs well with vanilla custard. You also have the option of steaming individual puddings by spooning the mixture into 4 or 6 ramekins (depending on their size) and reducing the steaming time to about an hour.

Serves: 6 

  • 50g chocolate
  • 120ml milk
  • 100g breadcrumbs
  • 2 eggs, yolks and whites separated
  • 40g caster sugar
  • 40g butter
  • Drop of vanilla extract

Prep:5min  ›  Cook:1hr35min  ›  Ready in:1hr40min 

  1. Break the chocolate into small pieces and place in a pan with milk; simmer until dissolved, about 5 minutes.
  2. Cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy; add egg yolks, breadcrumbs and milk mixture; stir in vanilla essence. Stir in egg whites and turn into buttered mould. Steam for 1 1/2 hours.

I've tryed this and its been steaming for an hour and 45 mins is it ment to take that long ? Are you supposed to cover it or leave top open? It my first time doing one - 18 Feb 2014
