About this recipe: I got this recipe off of one of my favourite blogs and tweaked it a bit, adding fresh and dried herbs and a few different ingredients. This is a great recipe for anyone who loves sardines, and for those who think they don't! Serve on crackers or toast.

Serves: 2

  • 1 tin sardines in olive oil, drained
  • 2 tablespoons capers, chopped
  • 1 roasted red pepper, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh dill or parsley
  • 1 spring onion, chopped
  • 1 to 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 4 to 6 tablespoons natural yoghurt
  • 1 generous pinch dried Greek oregano
  • salt and black pepper to taste

Prep:10min  ›  Ready in:10min

  1. Place the sardines in a bowl and roughly mash with a fork. Add in all of the remaining ingredients and stir well. Enjoy!

Cook's note

This is a versatile recipe and if you don't have all of the ingredients to hand, no problem! This recipe was inspired by one I found on the blog Olive Tomato.

A really quick, easy and very tasty recipe and as Diana suggests, can be varied depending on what ingredients you have to hand. - 17 Jan 2014

googled Cabernet Sauvignon and sardines and this came up. I like it! Thanks. I didn't have red bell pepper on hand or green onion - I used "fake" Vidalia (sweet onion) instead. - 26 Mar 2014
