About this recipe: This meatless mushroom roast tastes good with carrots, mashed potatoes or baked potatoes and white sauce.

Serves: 4 

  • 150g (5 oz) mushrooms
  • 1 onion
  • 25g (1 oz) margarine or oil
  • 100g (4 oz) grated cheese
  • 100g (4 oz) dried breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon Marmite® or other yeast extract
  • salt and black pepper, to taste

Prep:20min  ›  Cook:30min  ›  Ready in:50min 

  1. Preheat oven to 180 C / Gas 4.
  2. Wash and slice mushrooms. Chop onion and cook with mushrooms in margarine or oil for 10 minutes over low heat. Remove from heat. Stir in cheese, crumbs, egg, yeast extract and seasoning.
  3. Put into greased pie dish and bake in preheated oven for 30 minutes.
