One of my favourite comfort foods, these no-bake flapjacks are great to snack on at work or home. Quick and easy to make, add sultanas or chocolate chips at own preference!

100g (4 oz) butter
25g (1 oz) caster sugar
5 tablespoons golden syrup
200g (7 oz) oats
150g (5 oz) milk chocolate

In a large non-metallic bowl, melt the butter and sugar together in the microwave. Stir in the syrup using a hot spoon (to prevent sticking). Stir in the oats. Microwave on high for about 3 minutes (depending on the power).
Spread mixture on the bottom of a lightly greased baking dish. Break the chocolate into pieces and melt in the microwave, keeping a close eye that it doesn't burn. Spread chocolate on top of oat mixture and leave to cool in the refrigerator until set. Cut into squares.
we love these in our house and have made too many batches to count now.

banana and raisin - big hit!
strawberry and vanilla- looks like mince meat, not so popular!
Cherry - tasty.
apple and cinamon- just divine by far the best.
next up is cherry and coconut.....
