Makes: 1 banana loaf

  • 2 dessertspoons Nutella®
  • 200g (7 oz) plain flour
  • 140g (5 oz) caster sugar
  • 1 1/4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon bicarb
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 4 mashed over-ripe bananas

Prep:15min  ›  Cook:1hr  ›  Ready in:1hr15min

  1. Place the Nutella® in a bowl and microwave on full power for 1 minute or until the Nutella® becomes workable (not runny though).
  2. Place all the ingredients in a large mixing bowl and mix until well combined. Put your mix into a greased 900g (2 lb) loaf tin.
  3. Bake at 180 C / Gas 4 for around 30 minutes (or until a good crust has formed on the top of the loaf) then turn the oven down to 120 C and bake for a further 30 minutes.
  4. Enjoy hot Nutella® banana bread!

Don't forget to keep an eye on your Nutella® banana bread during cooking as all ovens vary slightly on temp. To ensure the bread is cooked through, poke a skewer through the middle of the cake. If it comes out clean - it's done!

I accidentally forgot to add the sugar. I only realised when it had already been in the oven for 10 minutes. I pulled it out and sprinkled just a couple of teaspoons of dark brown sugar on top. It was absolutely delicious and when I make it again tomorrow I'll be leaving the sugar out on purpose - 01 Mar 2013

Excellent recipe, a firm favourite in our family! I use less sugar (only 100grams), and it turns out just fine. - 25 Oct 2016
