About this recipe:
Half brownies half cookies, a winner all round. I saw it advertised in France as THE big thing in America but only ever found the recipe in French. I made my own and it is out of this world, crunchy and chewy... a must treat to try!
125g plain chocolate
75g plain flour
125g caster sugar
50g roughly chopped nuts
125g brown sugar
165g plain flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
100g chocolate chips

Preheat oven to 180 C / Gas 4. Grease a 23cm (9 in) square baking tin. For the brownie:
Melt chocolate and butter together in a microwave or double boiler. Stir till smooth and cool slightly.
Add eggs to the chocolate mixture, one at a time, then stir in sugar and flour. Set aside. For the cookie:
Beat together butter and sugar. Add the egg and mix well. Sift in flour and baking powder then add the chocolate chips. Assemble and bake:
Pour the brownie mix in the prepared tin, spread evenly. Spread the cookie dough over top. If desired, sprinkle with the nuts.
Bake for 40 to 50 minutes, or until knife comes out clean. Tip
Spreading the cookie dough is a bit awkward as it is sticky. Just make sure it is spooned all over and it will level itself in the oven. Sprinkle icing sugar or cocoa powder on top when cool. Enjoy!
Although it tasted ok the brownie and cookie just seemed to blend together when cooking to make a sponge cake.
