Sprinkle toast

Sprinkle toast

About this recipe: This is a special Easter morning breakfast treat from my childhood. Not one for the health freaks, but the kids LOVE this!! For smaller children, this is a great thing to make for guests and say "I made it all by MYSELF!!" Super easy and practically no risk.

Serves: 1

  • thinly sliced white bread
  • butter or spread of your choice
  • hundreds and thousands

Prep:5min  ›  Ready in:5min

  1. Butter your bread thinly with your butter.
  2. Either sprinkle the hundreds and thousands on the buttered by hand, or lay them on a plate and place your buttered bread butter side down on the sprinkles.
  3. Cut your sprinkle covered bread into appropriate shapes, e.g. hearts, stars, circles. you can use a cookie cutter for this.
  4. Feed them to your kids and enjoy the looks of utter admiration and respect for you, a Mum so cool as to allow her kids to eat sprinkle toast. You must, however impose a 3 slice maximum on your kids because you are basically feeding them sugar on bread, my kids do tend to go a little hyper after slice number 5! Enjoy!

Top tip

This also works if you replace butter with Nutella®, jam or honey.
