Danish Easter apple cake

    An extremely easy and delicious no-bake Easter cake from Denmark, with apple, cinnamon breadcrumbs and whipped cream. Deliciously different.

    Serves: 6 

    • 50g butter, or as needed
    • 3 tablespoons granulated sugar
    • 250g packaged dried breadcrumbs
    • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
    • 2 tins apple slices, mashed
    • whipped cream

    1. Melt butter in a heavy based frying pan. Add the sugar, then the breadcrumbs. Cook for 2 to 3 minutes.
    2. Add the cinnamon and mix well. Stir with a wooden spoon for about 5 minutes over medium heat.
    3. In a glass serving dish, layer the breadcrumbs, apple, breadcrumbs, apple, until all used up. Top with whipped cream and chill until required.

    Mine looked a bit wet (probably my tinned apple) so I added some freeze dried apple pieces i'd gotten off ebay. That seemed to do the trick and it was extra appley. Yum.  -  15 Nov 2015
