Chocolate crunch squares

    The following family recipe is one loved by us all. But be warned, these are quite firm to the bite!

    Serves: 8 

    • 110g (4 oz) margarine
    • 110g (4 oz) soft brown sugar
    • 110g (4 oz) rolled oats
    • 110g (4 oz) coconut
    • 1 tablespoon golden syrup
    • 1 handful cornflakes
    • 110g (4 oz) dark chocolate, melted

    1. Preheat oven to 180 C / Gas 4. Grease a deep swiss roll tray.
    2. Melt margarine, syrup and sugar together in medium saucepan. Stir in coconut, oats and cornflakes. Press the mixture into the prepared tray.
    3. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes. Let cool.
    4. Once cool, cover with the melted dark chocolate. Allow to set before slicing.


    If preferred you can use milk chocolate, melted as a covering! Keeps well.
