Easy toffee apple crumble

    A twist on the traditional apple crumble for those who have a sweet tooth, the toffee pieces melt into the apple to make a gorgeous gooey treat.

    Serves: 8 

    • 1.5kg cooking apples, peeled and sliced
    • 300g caster sugar
    • 180g plain flour
    • 120g butter, room temperature
    • 1/2 bag of Thorntons toffee

    1. Cook apples in saucepan on medium heat until soft enough for fork to pierce through.
    2. Rub together sugar, flour and butter until it resembles a crumble texture.
    3. Spread apples into a baking dish, evenly place pieces of toffee over apples and top with crumble mixture.
    4. Place in oven and bake for 1 hour at 170 C / Gas 3.


    Can be served with custard, ice cream or fresh cream but equally good on its own.

    Delicious, toffee melted to create a gorgeous sauce, added only 175g of sugar as thought it would be too sweet with 300g, everyone raved about it.  -  02 Aug 2016
