Delicious egg free chocolate mug cake

    5 min

I have made this quite a few times and it is popular with my friends as well! It is quick and easy to make and only uses a few basic baking ingredients. I hope you will enjoy it as much as I do!

Makes: 1 cake in a mug

    • 4 dessertspoons sugar
    • 4 dessertspoons plain flour
    • 2 dessertspoons cocoa powder
    • 1 pinch salt
    • 2 dessertspoons olive oil
    • 3 dessertspoons water
    • Extras
    • chopped fruit, choc chips, anything you like really!

    Prep:3min  ›  Cook:2min  ›  Ready in:5min

    1. Put the sugar, flour, cocoa, salt, and any of the extras you want into a mug. Stir well.
    2. Add the oil and water. Stir! stir! stir around until it looks well-mixed. It shouldn't be too gloopy, but if it is, add a little more flour.
    3. Place the mug carefully into the microwave. Cook for 2 minutes. Keep an eye on the microwave though, to make sure it is rising well and doesn't look or smell burnt (remember: microwaves can vary!).
    4. When cooked, lift it out of the microwave. Just make sure not to burn yourself in the process.
    5. Add your ice cream, cream, or whatever you like with cake! Enjoy!

Leave out cocoa powder for a normal sponge if you don't like chocolate. Once we got the ingredients wrong and it ended up as a gooey rock. So if you don't follow the recipe exactly, it could get messy!

Great! It was very filling. I had to add extra water though. After my first 1 all my family were asking for one. It look me 1 minute 40 secs in my 850 watt microwave. I added white chocolate chips on the top and they melted in the microwave, it was gorgeous. It's lovely with cream as well.  -  09 Dec 2014

Delicious - added white and milk chocolate chips and it cheered my two poorly boys right up! I'd say it's fairly fool proof as I used heaped dessert spoons of the dry ingredients so had to add a little more water but it still came out perfect- the boys have requested it for tea... (I said no but maybe another day)  -  16 Oct 2014
