About this recipe: Encourage children to eat and enjoy vegetables with this tasty salad pot. The cheese in the salad will provide a source of vitamin A, which is needed for the immune system. The sweet apples and cranberries combined with the refreshing crunch of the salad are sure to prove a hit with young ones.

Serves: 1 

  • 7cm piece cucumber
  • 1 big handful bagged salad mix
  • 35g Cheshire cheese, crumbled
  • 1/2 large apple, thinly sliced
  • 1 tablespoon raisins or dried cranberries

  1. Shave green "worms" lengthways by cutting into strips from the outside of the cucumber using a potato peeler. Slice the remaining cucumber chunks into flower-shaped pieces.
  2. Mix the cheese, apples, cucumber worms and flowers, and dried fruit.


Add a drizzle of olive oil and squeeze of lemon juice.
