Red wine and garlic dipping or basting sauce

    A tantalisingly tasty sauce to give almost anything a delicious kick. Very easy to make and versatile, too.

    Serves: 4 

    • 100ml mild red or rose wine
    • 8 teaspoons garlic powder
    • 6 tablespoons cold water

    1. Combine the wine and the garlic powder until thick and paste-like. Add the water, stir and use as desired.
    2. To use with mushrooms:

    3. Soak 100g mushrooms in the dipping sauce for 10 minutes. Heat 2 teaspoons olive oil in a pan, then cook mushrooms till tender.


    If you don't have garlic powder, use roasted garlic cloves (put 5 cloves in to a pre-heated oven tray at 200 C / Gas 6 for 30 minutes ). Strain before adding the water.
