A couple of modern additions to a dense old fashioned flat baked treacle cake. Serve warm with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.
Changed ingredient amounts but made as instructed. Used a vegan baking block instead of butter & coconut milk. Turned out lovely. The outside sets to a thin crust, the inside is soft & dense. Ate it warm with vegan custard, lovely on a cold evening. Kids enjoyed it too & they're not huge fruit cake fans. Will be making again when my (Welsh) Mum & Dad visit.
