Golden caramel sauce

    A wonderful sauce for making ahead and freezing. Great with almost any dessert and especially lovely over ice cream.

    Ingredients
    Serves: 10 

    • 110g unsalted butter
    • 150g caster sugar
    • 500g double cream

    Method
    Prep:5min  ›  Cook:15min  ›  Ready in:20min 

    1. In a small saucepan, melt the butter over a low heat while stirring continuously. Before the butter changes colour, add the sugar and continue to stir over a low heat until it becomes a rich caramel colour. Remove the saucepan from the heat and carefully stir in the double cream until well mixed. Return to a low heat and cook for 5 minutes. Serve warm or cold.
