Chocolate rice krispie® biscuit botch

    I had some condensed milk left over from another recipe and really fancied something chocolatey, crunchy so I made these.

    Ingredients
    Makes: 30 pieces

    • 15 digestive biscuits
    • 4 handfuls rice krispies®
    • 4 teaspoons dark brown soft sugar
    • 55g (2 oz) butter
    • 4 teaspoons golden syrup
    • 1 (397g) can condensed milk
    • 6 tablespoons cocoa powder
    • 100g chocolate, melted (optional)

    Method

    1. Bash the biscuits roughly until some are completely crumbled, and some are still a bit chunky.
    2. Mix the biscuits in a bowl with the rice krispies.
    3. In a non-stick pan, mix together the sugar, butter, golden syrup, condensed milk and cocoa powder.
    4. Heat on a low heat, stirring continuously until it is caramelised and thickens up.
    5. Pour the caramel into the bowl with the rice krispies and biscuits and mix until they are all thoroughly combined.
    6. Press into a traybake tin and chill for 1 to 2 hours.
    7. If you wish, top with melted chocolate of your choice. Let set, then cut into bars or squares.
