Old fashioned biscuits

    This is a very simple recipe for old fashioned plain biscuits. Nothing fancy about these biscuits just the basic ingredients. Lovely!

    Makes: 12 biscuits

    • 110g plain flour
    • 55g rice flour
    • 110g caster sugar
    • 55g margarine
    • 1 egg
    • 2 tablespoons milk

    1. Preheat the oven to 170 C / Gas 3. Grease a baking tray.
    2. In a bowl, combine the flour, rice flour and sugar. Rub in the margarine until the mixture resembles fine breadcrumbs. Add the egg and milk to make a dough. Turn the dough out onto a floured surface then roll out to 1cm thickness. Cut out using a fluted biscuit cutter. Place on the prepared tray.
    3. Bake in the preheated oven for 20 to 30 minutes until light brown. Remove from the oven and cool.
