About this recipe:
A simple recipe for the perfect homemade iced tea. Add sugar and lemon juice if liked, but it's not necessary.
2 teaspoons black tea leaves, such as English Breakfast or Darjeeling
1 tablespoon granulated sugar
1/2 lemon, juiced
- Bring the water to the boil. Add to tea leaves and let steep for 3 to 5 minutes, depending on personal taste. Strain and discard tea leaves.
- Mix the hot tea with the sugar till the sugar has dissolved. To this add the lemon juice and 75 to 125ml of cold water according to personal taste.
- Add ice if liked and serve straightaway!
You can make a litre of iced tea to serve four by quadrupling the quantities listed here. Store any leftover iced tea in the fridge for up to 3 days.
