Green juice

    This recipe shows you how to make a green juice with just a blender and muslin cloth - no juicer required. Green juice made from leafy greens and green vegetables like romaine lettuce, parsley, spinach and celery supply much needed minerals back into the body. They are particularly useful for off-setting any excesses of acidity you may be feeling.

    • 4 to 5 leaves romaine lettuce
    • 30g fresh coriander
    • 2.5cm piece fresh ginger
    • 1 stick celery, chopped
    • 1/4 lemon

    1. Place lettuce, coriander, ginger and celery into a blender along with enough water to blend.
    2. Blend mixture.
    3. Line a strainer with muslin cloth and place a bowl beneath. Pour the blended ingredients through the muslin cloth and then gather the cloth up so that you can squeeze the remaining juice out into the bowl below.
    4. Squeeze the muslin cloth to release the juice into the bowl below. Pour the strained green juice into a glass and taste. Add some lemon juice which helps to counteract any bitterness.


    The basic method for making green juices can be expanded to include fresh green herbs (parsley, coriander, mint, etc) and other green vegetables like (celery, mangetout, cucumber, broccoli, etc).
