Lost and found chocolate cake

Obtained some old books from an auction and inside were three hand-written faded recipes, so I decided to share them and you can let me know what you think. They were originally all in Imperial and quite brief instructions. Here I give metric measures, too. This is recipe 1 of 3.

    1 person made this

    Ingredients
    Makes: 1 chocolate cake

    • 110g (4 oz) butter
    • 110g (4 oz) caster sugar
    • 55g (2 oz) solid chocolate
    • 2 eggs, beaten
    • 110g (4 oz) flour (not specified, but probably plain)

    Method
    Prep:15min  ›  Cook:45min  ›  Ready in:1hr

    1. Turn on the oven to a moderate heat (180 C / Gas 4). Paper a baking tin.
    2. Beat the butter to a cream. Add the sugar and mix.
    3. Add the chocolate, eggs and flour to the butter mixture, and mix well. (The recipe does not give any information on what to do with the chocolate, so you can grate it, melt it, just break it, or whatever. I grated the chocolate.) Put into the baking tray.
    4. Put into the oven for 45 minutes to 1 hour.

    Tip

Please let me know how you did the chocolate and what you thought of it.
