About this recipe: Little snacks for the little ones. These kiddie bread rolls are ideal to have on hand for lunchboxes and afternoon snacks.

Makes: 8 kiddie bread rolls

  • 340g (12 oz) strong white flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 (7g) satchet active dried yeast
  • 1/2 dessertspoon sunflower oil
  • 225ml warm water

  1. Combine the flour, salt and yeast together in a bowl then add the sunflower oil and water and stir everything together with a wooden spoon to make a soft dough.
  2. Sprinkle a little flour on a work surface then tip out the dough and knead for about 5 minutes until the dough becomes smooth and elastic. Break the dough into 8 pieces and roll them into small balls then shape into rolls. Place on a lightly floured baking tray and cover over with a tea towel and leave in a warm place for 40 minutes to rise.
  3. Preheat the oven to 220 C / Gas 7.
  4. Bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes until risen and golden brown. The rolls should sound hollow when you tap the base. Remove from the oven and serve warm or allow to cool before enjoying.
