Yummy alfredo sauce

    This non-cream, yummy recipe with a little bite is super creamy and delicious! Great for use in a variety of pasta dishes and yields an ideal amount for dishes serving 4 to 6 people.

    Serves: 6 

    • 110g butter
    • 20g finely grated Parmesan cheese
    • 60g grated Cheddar cheese
    • 60ml vegetable oil
    • 1 1/2 teaspoons dried Italian herbs
    • 1/2 teaspoon chilli powder
    • 1/3 teaspoon salt
    • 1/4 teaspoon ground pepper
    • 375ml milk
    • 3 tablespoons plain flour

    1. Melt the butter in saucepan over a medium heat and stir until completely melted. Add in the Parmesan and Cheddar cheeses and continue to stir until melted. Add vegetable oil, Italian herbs, chilli powder and salt and pepper.
    2. Gradually whisk in the milk and bring to the boil over a high heat. Sprinkle in the flour and whisk until lump free. Use a wooden spoon to stir over a medium heat until mixture becomes thick. Remove from the heat and use, or allow to cool before storing in the fridge for up to 3 days.
