Spiced all-butter shortbread

    These delicate shortbread biscuits taste lovely, and are made in only five easy steps! The added spices make them special.

    Makes: 4 dozen biscuits

    • 500g salted butter, softened
    • 500g sugar
    • 500g plain flour
    • 1 teaspoon ground mixed spice
    • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
    • 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger

    Prep:25min  ›  Cook:10min  ›  Ready in:35min 

    1. Cream together the butter and sugar.
    2. In a separate bowl, mix together the flour and spices. Add to the creamed butter and sugar.
    3. Preheat the oven to 160 C / Gas 2-3. Roll out the dough and cut out biscuits on a floured board. Put the biscuits on lined baking trays.
    4. Bake for 10 to 15 minutes, till lightly golden. Enjoy!

    Have you even tried your own recipe? I don't believe you made anything resembling cookies with this recipe. The mixture was far too wet and just turned into a pool of stickiness when put in the oven.  -  19 Nov 2015


    Worked really well when I used real butter and not margarine!!!  -  20 Nov 2015
