Seared tuna with pak choi

    Juicy tuna steaks are seared to perfection then laid on top of a bed of pak choi sautéed in garlic, lime juice and soya sauce.

    Serves: 2 

    • For the pak choi
    • 2 teaspoons extra virgin olive oil
    • 1 to 2 pak choi, sliced
    • 1 clove garlic, finely chopped
    • juice of 1/2 to 1 fresh lime
    • 2 teaspoons soya sauce
    • 4 teaspoons chicken stock
    • For the tuna
    • 2 teaspoons extra virgin olive oil
    • 2 (170g/6oz) fresh tuna steaks
    • lime juice, to taste
    • salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste

      For the pak choi:

    1. Heat the oil in a frying pan over a medium heat and sauté the pak choi for 2 to 3 minutes. Stir in the garlic, lime juice and soya sauce and heat for a further 2 minutes or so.
    2. Add the stock, reduce the heat and simmer for another 2 to 3 minutes or so to consistency required.
    3. For the tuna:

    4. Meanwhile in a separate frying pan, heat the oil over a high heat, add the tuna and sear for a minute or two on each side or until cooked to taste.
    5. Place the pak choi onto a warm serving plate and place the tuna on top. Season and serve immediately.
