Spirulina smoothie

    This juice has beetroot, carrots, fresh ginger, almonds and spirulina. It is sure to give you a healthy boost to your day!

    Serves: 2 

    • 1 beetroot, peeled and chopped
    • 4 small carrots, chopped
    • 1 (2cm) piece fresh ginger, peeled and chopped
    • 60ml water (optional)
    • 35g finely chopped almonds
    • 60g fresh spirulina, or 1 to 2 tablespoons spirulina powder
    • ice cubes, as desired

    1. Blend beetroot, carrots and ginger together in a blender until smooth. Add water if mixture is too thick. Add almonds to mixture and blend until smooth. Add spirulina and ice and blend until smooth.


    Spirulina is an algae which is high in protein and packed with essential amino acids, vitamins and antioxidants. You can buy it fresh or in powdered form from most health shops.
