About this recipe: Take your favourite cupcakes and with a little decorating magic turn them into a pumpkin patch! These are great for kiddie parties in autumn or for Halloween.

  1. Prepare your favourite cupcake recipe, or start with shop-bought cupcakes. Any flavour will work!
  2. Prepare the icing as directed in your recipe, or use shop-bought icing. You'll need about 300g of icing. To the plain icing, add some orange food colouring, starting with just a few drops and adding more until your desired hue is reached.
  3. Spread the icing over each of the cooled cupcakes.
  4. Place the orange sugar in a bowl and invert the cupcakes into the bowl, coating the tops in sugar.
  5. Using the back of a knife, press five lines into the top of each cupcake, originating from the centre, to resemble a pumpkin. Stick a pretzel stick or piece of a regular pretzel in the centre for the pumpkin stem.
