Tasty double chocolate brownies

    This is a very easy brownie recipe for kids to enjoy and also adults. You could even help the kids make it too!

    Serves: 10 

    • 115g plain chocolate, broken into pieces
    • 115g butter
    • 300g caster sugar
    • 1 pinch salt
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
    • 2 large eggs
    • 140g plain flour
    • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
    • 100g white chocolate chips

    1. Preheat the the oven to 180 C / Gas 4. Grease and line a the base of a 18cm (7 in) square tin.
    2. Melt the chocolate and butter in a double boiler, or in a pan over barely simmering water. Stir until melted then leave to cool slightly.
    3. Add it to a mixing bowl. Stir in the sugar, salt and vanilla. Add the eggs one at a time and whisk till blended.
    4. Sift the flour and cocoa powder into the mixture and beat until smooth. Stir in the chocolate chips and spread the mixture in the tin. Spoon the mixture into the tin and spread the top evenly.
    5. Bake for 35 to 40 minutes until firm. Remove from the oven and allow to cool before slicing and serving.


    Add more chocolate or have it with toffee sauce or with a mug of hot chocolate.
