Mix the butter and icing sugar. Add a tablespoon of milk if too stiff. Add the vanilla and mix with an electric mixer. Add a few drops of food colouring if required. Use or store covered in the fridge for a few days until needed.
I really don't want to tell, but I make loads of mess with the icing sugar.
