About this recipe: This is my go-to recipe when I want a cheesy biscuit that's melt in the mouth. You can use your choice of vegan cheese for these biscuits. This recipe is very quick and you’ll have tasty treats for your guests in no time. Recipe is from my cookbook Vegan Tapas: 150 quick and delicious snacks and bites for sharing.

Makes: 20 biscuits

  • 75g plain flour
  • 50g vegan margarine
  • 50g grated vegan Parmesan-style cheese
  • 1/2 tablespoon savoury yeast flakes
  • 1/2 teaspoon mustard powder
  • freshly ground black pepper, to taste

  1. Preheat the oven to 200 C / Gas 6.
  2. To an electric mixer with a beater blade add the flour, margarine, Parmesan-style cheese, savoury yeast flakes, mustard powder and a good grind of black pepper. Process until the mixture forms a dough.
  3. Tip the dough onto your work surface, then roll into a 15cm log. Slice into 20 even-sized discs, each about 5mm thick. Place on a lined baking tray.
  4. Bake for 15 minutes, until the biscuits are firm and starting to brown around the edges. Transfer to a wire rack to cool. Serve.
