Vegan faux creamy cheese sauce

    This is a quick and easy recipe for vegan faux creamy cheese sauce. Use in place of normal cheese sauce in pasta or other dishes.

    Serves: 4 

    • 260g drained and rinsed tinned haricot beans
    • 2 tablespoons tahini
    • 1 tablespoon chopped onion
    • 1 tablespoon white miso paste
    • 1 tablespoon nutritional yeast flakes
    • 120ml almond milk
    • 1 1/2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
    • 1 pinch salt
    • 1 pinch cayenne pepper

    1. Blend navy beans, tahini, onion, miso paste, and nutritional yeast in a food processor until smooth. Add almond milk, lemon juice, salt, and cayenne pepper; process until creamy.

    This doesn't really go well with pasta. As a dip for vegetables, being more like hummus, this works. I omitted the miso, perhaps that's the reason this is far from tasting like cheese.  -  23 May 2015  (Review from Allrecipes US | Canada)
