All you need for this fish batter is flour, salt, baking powder, milk and water. The results will be thinly-coated, crispy and delicious pieces of fish!
How can a fifth of the dry ingredients be baking powder. It tasted awful. It didn’t stick to the fish and was not crispy at all.. probably as it had milk in it. I ruined some lovely bass with this . My 8 year old son said he couldn’t eat it. Fortunately I had more fish and knocked up a batter mix that was way crispier and my family could actually eat. Don't use this recipe. First time I've ever made batter for fish and it was fab! Highly recommended- try it! - 07 Oct 2016
First of all I should let everyone know that I put this on a FRESH caught fish. My boyfriend caught it for us. WOW. Anyways, Excellent. Was a little too thick so I aded more water. Could taste the baking powder in the mix slightly so would suggest going easy on that. I used 2tsp. In terms of cooking it tasted light and crispy, and stayed nicely coasted on the fish. Did not taste oily or soggy. Would be much better with spices added to it. Will make again - 18 Nov 2017 (Review from Allrecipes US | Canada)
