    About this recipe: Having made soda farls for a number of years and experimenting with ingredients, I got it right. These can be fried and added to your Ulster fry, soda sandwich, Ulster pizza, toasted, jam butty or my favourites, soda hot off the grill with butter and fried egg and or sausage.

    Makes: 4 soda farls

    • 2 mugs soda bread flour
    • 1 mug buttermilk
    • 1 good tablespoon rapeseed oil

    1. Put flour in a mixing bowl. add buttermilk and oil. use a utensil to blend together. dust work area with flour. empty the dough on top and knead for 3 minutes. Cut into four portions, shape to your liking and dust lightly with a little extra flour.
    2. Heat a grill or pan. I use my grill on our electric cooker and set the temp at 7 o'clock. When the sodas are warm to the touch with the back of the hand they are ready to turn, after about 5 minutes. Check with a skewer - if the skewer is clean, then they are ready.
