About this recipe: Pak choi is stir-fried with cashews, Chinese five-spice and garlic for a quick and easy Asian-inspired side dish.


Serves: 4 

  • 1 large head pak choi
  • 1 tablespoon grapeseed oil
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 45g cashews
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon Chinese five-spice powder, or more to taste
  • 1 pinch granulated sugar

  1. Trim the bok choy; discard stem. Cut stalks diagonally into thin slices; cut or tear leaves into bite-sized pieces.
  2. Heat oil and butter in a wok or pan over medium heat; add onion, cashews, garlic, bok choy, Chinese five-spice and sugar to the hot oil-butter mixture. Cook and stir pak choi mixture until tender, 8 to 10 minutes.
